Things to do in Somerset

Lifestyle

Enjoy a fun-filled day in Somerset

We’ve rounded up some of our favourite things to do in Somerset. Pack yourself a picnic and enjoy a day out in the county where your favourite brew is made.

Wells Cathedral

Set in the heart of England’s smallest city, Wells Cathedral is the earliest English Cathedral to be built in Gothic style. Boasting an impressive collection of medieval sculptures on the West Front of the building, enjoy a cup of coffee alfresco while you look at the architecture before you take a tour inside.

Glastonbury Tor

Walk the steep climb to the top of Glastonbury Tor in time for sunrise and enjoy a breakfast picnic, with Chai Muffins and Miles Smuggler’s Gold, while you take in the serene scene unfolding in front of you.

Quantock Trekking

Book a few hours of horse trekking on the Quantock hills and across heathland, coastal cliffs woodland on horseback.

Wookey Hole Caves

Plan a fun-filled, family-orientated day at Wookey Hole Caves. Explore that natural caves, the largest caves you can visit in England. You will also find lots of other fun attractions, such as the valley of dinosaurs, the cave museum and the fairy garden.

Dunster Castle

Explore the cobbled village of Duster, with its independent shops and eateries, before taking a tour of Dunster Castle and its fabulous grounds.

Roman Baths

Visit the ancient, Roman Baths, a World Heritage site of preserved remains of an ancient, religious spa. The Baths are still filled with natural thermal springs and the attraction also holds a museum collection.

Longleat

Pack up a picnic and spend the day at Longleat Park. Wander around the animal enclosures, explore Longleat House and drive through the safari park in the comfort of your car, a flask of tea in hand (or cup holder!).

West Somerset Railway

Take the steam train from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead. The nostalgic train travels through quaint Somerset villages, along the coast before the line ends in Minehead. Spend some time at the beach and grab some tea from the Miles Factory shop before you head back to the train.
